Music notes: Teddy Swims, KATSEYE and more

Between them, Teddy Swims and Josh Groban can pretty much handle singing any kind of music, so perhaps that's why they've been tapped to perform at this year's Grammy Hall of Fame Gala. The two artists, who are both signed to Warner Records, will perform as part of a special tribute to the label, which is receiving the Visionary of Music Award for its more than 60 years of releasing records that have "made a lasting mark on music and culture." The event will take place May 8 in LA.

KATSEYE will perform at the American Music Awards, airing live from Las Vegas on CBS and Paramount+ on May 25. The photo on the social media post announcing the news shows the group with five members, which is the configuration they've been appearing in since Manon Bannerman went on hiatus.

Shaggy will have a role in a new film starring Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal, ABC Audio has confirmed. Honeymoon with Harry is about a guy and his soon-to-be-father-in-law who are forced to take a trip together. At first they don't get along, but they eventually end up bonding. This is Shaggy's second film; he appeared in the 2018 Netflix movie Game Over, Man! Starting in June, he'll appear opposite his buddy Sting in The Last Ship at New York City's Metropolitan Opera.

Justin Bieber's albums invade the 'Billboard' albums chart after Coachella performances

Justin Bieber's Coachella shows haven't just given his streaming numbers a big boost, they've helped his album sales, as well.

Billboard reports that Justin now has seven albums simultaneously on the Billboard 200, which is the most he's ever had at the same time. One of them is an album that didn't even make the chart when it was first released back in 2013.

That album is Journals, which was originally only available on the iTunes Store; back then iTunes Store sales weren't counted when it came to chart placement. Journals eventually did become available on all digital and streaming platforms, and on CD and vinyl, but it was only in the past week that it sold enough copies to actually make the chart at #111.

Justin's other charting albums are SWAG, which jumps from #55 to #7, Purpose, Believe, My World 2.0, Justice and My World, all of which re-enter the Billboard 200 at placements ranging from #32 to #147.

Meanwhile, Spotify's Instagram account says that streams of Justin's entire discography increased by 210%. Some individual songs saw streaming increases of 1,000%, including "Favorite Girl" and "That Should Be Me." Meanwhile, "Beauty and a Beat" streams increased by just under 800%, and "One Less Loney Girl" streams increased by 720%.

All this increased streaming has resulted in a handful of Justin's songs either jumping up the Billboard 100 chart or reentering that chart after many years. "Beauty and a Beat" has reentered at #26 for the first time since its original chart run in 2012, and "Baby" reenters at #47, for the first time since 2010. Meanwhile, his 2025 single "Daisies" has reentered at #18 after peaking at #2 last year.

Madonna's 'missing clothing' update: Items may have fallen off a golf cart

According to police, there may not have been any evil intent behind the disappearance of the vintage clothing that Madonna wore during her Coachella performance with Sabrina Carpenter. As previously reported, Madonna is offering a reward for the items, which are from her archives and are "part of my history," as she wrote on her Instagram Story.

Police in Indio, California, tell ABC News that on April 18, Madonna's representative filed a missing property report for two bags of clothing and jewelry, which were last seen on a golf cart on the Coachella grounds. The cart was being driven by staff who were on their way to load the bags onto a bus. Later, when staff arrived at a hotel, they realized the bags were gone.

According to police, the golf cart was being driven on a dark, bumpy road and a preliminary investigation suggests that the bags may have simply fallen off the back of the cart. According to the police report, "There is no evidence to suggest the bags were intentionally stolen."

As of yet, there's no record of the bags being turned in. However, police are asking anyone who may have located the bags to return them to 46800 Jackson St. in Indio, California, or contact the department at (760) 391-4057.

Madonna described the items as her "jacket, corset, dress" and "other archival items from the same era." The Queen of Pop had last worn some of those items when she performed at Coachella in 2006.

Lady Gaga hit the red carpet for Monday night's premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2, and as the film's director seemingly confirmed at the premiere, it wasn't just because she recorded a song for the soundtrack.

According to Vanity Fair, David Frankel took the stage at the New York City event prior to the movie beginning, and then revealed what he called "the worst kept secret in showbiz." As per the publication, the secret was that Lady Gaga appears in the film as herself, "singing original music to boot." Gaga then came onstage wearing a black Saint Laurent Fall 2016 gown, kissed Meryl Streep on the cheek and waved to everyone.

The rumors that Gaga might appear in the movie began after she was photographed while reportedly leaving the set in Milan last year.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters May 1, with returning stars Anne Hathaway, Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, as well as multiple additional celebrity cameos.

While her fans may be upset about it, Mariah Carey seems unbothered by the fact that she failed to get inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on her third attempt.

When TMZ cameras caught up with Mariah in New York City on Monday, she said "no" when asked if she cared about the honor. When the TMZ reporter said it was nice that Mariah wasn't upset, and pointed out that she's won many other awards in her career, Mariah replied, "Yeah, who cares? Like, give it to somebody else. Fantastic."

When asked what's next, Mariah snarked, "What's next? Can I rest a minute?" But when asked when she starts preparing for Christmas, Mariah said, "Soon. Christmas is going on, yes."

During the conversation with TMZ, Mariah also commented on the fact that she's selling her iconic New York City apartment featured in MTV Cribs. Asked if she plans to buy another place in Manhattan, she said, "No, it's just outside the city."

Watch Olivia Rodrigo's two new videos for 'drop dead'

Olivia Rodrigo, 'drop dead' (Geffen Records)

Olivia Rodrigo now has not one, not two, but three different videos for her song "drop dead" — one for each major streaming platform.

The YouTube video that debuted last week is the official video for "drop dead," but now, there's one for Apple Music called the "stalked you on the internet" version and one for Spotify titled the "taken that eurostar to france" version.

The "stalked you on the internet" version finds Olivia romping around the Palace of Versailles in France, where much of the official video was filmed. In this version, she appears framed in the MacBook Photo Booth app as if she is, yes, being "stalked on the internet." On Instagram, she wrote, "versailles was so beautiful I didn’t wanna stop filming lol!"

The "taken that eurostar to france" video is exactly what it sounds like: It's footage of Liv traveling around to many famous sights and landmarks in London, before hopping the Eurostar to Paris and frolicking around the City of Lights.

On Instagram, she chose to spotlight a frame from that video in which she's on the Eurostar train wearing a baseball cap that says "Winona." This led fans in the comments to call for Winona Ryder to appear in her next video.

Her cap could also be a hint of a song title or lyric on Olivia's upcoming album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. After all, we know how much she loves iconic female stars of the '90s.

Jennifer Hudson returns to 'American Idol' as a mentor, guest judge

Jennifer Hudson returned to American Idol more than two decades after she competed on the show.

The talk show host and EGOT winner joined her American Idol family Monday night as a mentor and guest judge. Hudson took a seat at the judges table alongside hosts Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and fellow Idol alum Carrie Underwood for this week's Disney night.

Hudson told ABC News that coming back to the show as a guest judge and mentor felt like a "dream come true."

"I got to call myself a judge today," she continued. "I don't take anything lightly and I celebrate everything. It's a celebration to be able to come back in my circle of life and be in the judging panel."

"As soon as I walked in and I saw the 'American Idol' sign, I felt like a contestant all over again," she said. "That feeling never leaves you. So my heart always goes out to the finalists."

As a guest judge, Hudson brought a surplus of shoes to compliment singers.

After finalist Keyla Richardson's performance of "Circle of Life," Hudson threw a shoe on stage at the 29-year-old and told her that the song, which she also sang in 2004 when she competed on the show, serves as a "full circle of my life."

While Hudson didn't win American Idol in 2004 (she placed seventh), she went on to become an Emmy-nominated talk show host, Oscar winner and more. In 2022, Hudson achieved EGOT status when she won a Tony Award for her work as a producer on the Broadway show A Strange Loop.

Following Monday night's show, the contestants that remain are Richardson, Jordan McCullough, Brooks Rosser, Chris Tungseth, Hannah Harper, Braden Rumfelt and Daniel Stallworth.

Next week, the top seven finalists will take the stage to perform Taylor Swift songs, and Nikki Glaser will be a guest judge.

Billie Eilish didn't want to share stage with 3D camera, says James Cameron

James Cameron and Billie Eilish (Henry Hwu)

Billie Eilish teamed up with Avatar and Titanic director James Cameron to create HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR (LIVE IN 3D), her concert film that's coming out May 8. But in a new featurette, Cameron says Eilish had to be convinced that one major component of making the film was a good idea.

Cameron says, "We had a long creative meeting. It was very collaborative, always pushing her for certain things that were outside of her comfort zone, for sure.” However, he notes that when he asked to put a camera on stage with her, Eilish's response was, "Absolutely no. Don't want to change the show."

Cameron says, "It took me six months to convince her that intimacy is so much more powerful in 3D."

"Once we started talking about that, it was so clear that it was too important [to say no]," Eilish explains. She notes, "[I] just love the idea of people who didn't get to see the show getting to experience it like they were there." She adds, "The goal of shooting this movie is to really capture this incredible bond that I share with the fans."

"It's not just 'Rah-rah, I'm with my favorite pop star,'" Cameron says. "It's an emotional connection and it's real."

While co-directing with Cameron, Eilish says, "He really treated me like his equal." Not bad, considering he has three Oscars and she "only" has two.

The tour documented by the film wrapped up in November 2025 after more than 100 shows over four continents.

Josh Hutcherson on hate from Taylor Swift fans: 'I don't need that energy'

Josh Hutcherson is opening up about the Taylor Swift fans who went after him on social media.

Back in December 2025, Hutcherson appeared in an I-D interview with his I Love LA costar Jordan Firstman, in which he said, "I'm not a Swiftie. Very much not. No shade, all respect, but definitely not."

Firstman then said, "A little tiny shade. She can handle a little bit of shade."

Fans of Swift took to Hutcherson's social media after the interview was released, with many of them pointing out that the actor attended The Eras Tour. In an interview with British GQ published on Monday, Hutcherson spoke about the response from Swift's fans.

"I got some heat because I did a photo shoot with Jordan, and Jordan asked me something about being a [Taylor Swift fan], and I was like, 'Oh no, I’m definitely not a Swiftie,'" Hutcherson said. "All of a sudden it garnered this, 'F*** him! He’s a monster! Destroy him! He’s short! He hates her because he’s short!’"

Hutcherson, who is 5 feet, 5 inches tall, said the whole ordeal made him want a more private lifestyle.

"I think [Taylor] is great. Her music is not my kind of music," Hutcherson said. "That is why I don’t want to be online ... I don't need that energy."

The actor admitted his current overexposure has made him anxious.

"Being thrust out again in the world and online in such a big way, doing a bunch of press and being on TikTok, all those things made me feel very exposed. I started to get a lot of anxiety about it," Hutcherson said, noting he has still has insecurities. "[They] haven’t gone away. I think I’ve learned how to cope and accept that these are my genetics. This is what I have."

Looks like someone wanted to dress themselves up — not in Madonna's love, but in her clothes.

The Queen of Pop wrote on her Instagram Story Monday that she was "still flying high" after her "full circle moment" at Coachella, which saw her return to the festival for the first time in 20 years to join Sabrina Carpenter onstage. However, she wrote, "I discovered that the vintage pieces that I wore went missing- my costume that was pulled from my personal archives - jacket, corset, dress and all other garments."

"These aren't just clothes, they are part of my history," she said. "Other archival items from the same era went missing as well. I'm hoping and praying that some kind soul, will find these items and reach out to my team at: Infomaverick2026@gmail.com."

Madonna says she's offering a reward for the "safe return" of the pieces, and thanks fans "with all My Heart."

During her performance, Madonna made a point of saying that she was wearing the same jacket, corset and boots that she originally wore at Coachella in 2006.

Katy Perry releasing 'director's cut' of 2011 hit

For unexplained reasons, on Tuesday Katy Perry is releasing the "director's cut" of a video for a song that came out nearly 15 years ago.

The video is for "The One that Got Away," which was released in September 2011 as the sixth single from Katy's biggest album, Teenage Dream. The video was quite the production: It was narrated by Stevie Nicks and cut between young Katy with her boyfriend, played by Diego Luna, and Katy as an older woman reminiscing about their relationship, which had a tragic end.

A seven-minute director's cut of the video was shown in movie theaters in November 2011. It's not clear if this version is different, but Stevie's narration will be included, according to a post on Instagram.

In other Katy news, fans seem to be amused by her reaction to visiting Rome's famous Trevi Fountain, into which tourists usually toss coins, either to ensure that they return to Rome, find love or experience good luck.

In a video on Instagram, Katy is seen standing in front of the fountain. "Y'all, I told you in 'Save As Draft' that I don't f*** with change," she says, referring to that lyric in her 2017 song. "But I feel like I need to put something in the Trevi Fountain for good luck."

"Someone give me a penny," she shouts. But failing to find any change, she takes out what's either her credit or debit card and places it in the water, snatching it up before it floats away.

Part of Justin Bieber's Coachella performance on Saturday featured him singing along to an old YouTube video of himself as a little kid playing Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River." Timberlake has since shared some more vintage Bieber video, as well as a message to the singer.

"Man, it's been a wild journey. It's been an emotional journey, but anyways, y'know, I grew up listening to Justin Timberlake and so many other beautiful talents," Bieber said onstage before he started singing along to the video. "I remember this like it was yesterday."

Timberlake reposted a part of that clip on Instagram, along with a video of himself meeting a very young Bieber. Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel, his girlfriend at the time, can be seen off to the side, capturing the moment on video.

"I know this has been a long road. And I know it’s not always a smooth ride," Timberlake wrote. "I’m proud of you - and you should be proud of you too. Sending love @lilbieber."

Timberlake also shared the clip of Bieber singing "Cry Me a River" to his Instagram Story with a heart emoji.

They've wanted it that way for 33 years: Happy anniversary, Backstreet Boys

Backstreet Boys perform at Sphere Las Vegas (Rich Fury)

Backstreet Boys have had it goin' on for 33 years.

The group considers April 20 their anniversary because on that day in 1993, Brian Littrell flew from Kentucky to Orlando, Florida, to officially join the group, completing the lineup that already included his cousin Kevin Richardson, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean.

And while the group has had its ups and downs over the years — Kevin left at one point, but they continued as a four-piece — they've never actually split up. That's why on Monday the group was able to post about their 33rd anniversary.

On Instagram, they shared a montage of their recent activities, including their T-Mobile Super Bowl ad and their residency at Sphere Las Vegas. "One for the books!" they wrote. "Happy Backstreet Boys Day everyone!! 33 years strong because of each of you. Here we go 34."

In May, Backstreet Boys will perform at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival in California, and in July they'll resume their Sphere residency, which runs through Aug. 29. They'll head to Dusseldorf, Germany, in September to do a residency there from Sept. 25 through Oct. 7.

Check out Noah Kahan's response to little girl who wanted to play his music for her worm

Noah Kahan (Patrick McCormack)

Noah Kahan has wormed his way into one family's heart by responding to their TikTok video.

A 5-year-old girl from Illinois named Caroline went viral on TikTok for a video that shows her finding an earthworm -- who she later named Mira -- and asking her mom to play Noah Kahan's music for it.

When her mom, Gianna, asked what song she wanted, Caroline requested "Orange Juice," a song from Stick Season about two friends, one of whom is an alcoholic who now says she's now sober.

"Orange juice in the kitchen/ bought for the children," Caroline added, quoting the song's lyrics.

Gianna sent the video to Caroline's grandmother Amanda, who posted it on TikTok. "The night I posted the video, it had a few comments and shares, and people were tagging Noah Kahan,” Amanda tells People. “I didn’t think too much about it.” But in the morning, she saw that the post had gotten hundreds of comments, including one from Noah.

"That worms gonna have some complicated feelings," Noah wrote.

Amanda then posted a follow-up video of Gianna telling Caroline that Noah saw the video and responded. "Oh my God! I'm so excited!" the little girl replied.

Amanda tells People, "Life, in general right now is so stressful and ugly for a lot of people. I hope that just for a moment anyone that watched this video took a pause, and enjoyed something so pure, just motivated by love.”

Billie Eilish's mom thanks Justin Bieber for making daughter's dream come true

Billie Eilish's guest appearance during Justin Bieber's Coachella set Saturday night was so important to her, her mother took to Instagram to thank him.

Billie shared a closeup of her face on her Instagram Story with the caption, "Can't stop crying," referring to the moment Justin brought her onstage and serenaded her with his hit "One Less Lonely Girl." A longtime Bieber superfan, Billie first met Justin in 2019 and later teamed up with him on a remix of "bad guy."

Now, on Instagram, Billie's mom Maggie Baird has posted a video of Billie literally crawling onstage to reach Justin, along with photos of her crying while standing in the audience.

"One of the most touching moments ever. It sounds crazy, but we watch our children develop these deep deep connections to artists who move them and usually there’s nothing in our power to do," she wrote.

"But we buy them records and maybe buy them a ticket to a concert (or a movie of a concert in our case because we couldn’t afford to see an actual concert)," she added. "Watching this crazy unimaginable dream come true over many years is so incredible."

"I’m so grateful to Justin Bieber for the kindness he has shown Billie and to our whole family and to Hailey [Bieber] who makes so many things wonderful and possible," Maggie concluded, referring to the fact that Hailey encouraged Billie to join Justin onstage.

Hailey responded in the comments, "[Love] you guys!" and "so special."

Zara Larsson, 'Midnight Sun: Girls Trip' (Sommer House / Epic Records)

Zara Larsson confirmed the release of a deluxe version of her album Midnight Sun, over the weekend, and now, we know at least one of the featured guests.

Zara joined her "Stateside" partner PinkPantheress onstage at Coachella on Saturday to perform a remix of her song "Midnight Sun." "Thank you my queen @pinkpantheress for having me on stage! I love the version of midnight sun that you made and I can’t wait for the world to hear your verse on may 1st," she wrote on Instagram.

May 1 is when Midnight Sun: Girls Trip arrives; it's now available for pre-order.
